Last month, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia welcomed a visit by Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired of Jordan, who is also the President-elect of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
The four-day visit – in preparation for the upcoming World Cancer Congress in 1-4 October – included meetings with our royal and principal patrons DYMM Tuanku Zara Salim, YAM Raja Azureen, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, our honorary adviser Dato’ Zuraidah Atan, the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, ambassadors extraordinaire, Members of the Parliament, as well as stakeholders from civil societies, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and academia.
Princess Dina also had a one-day stopover in Brunei Darussalam, in which she had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
Fruitful discussions were had on cancer control, including the importance of: financing our national cancer control plan, implementing prevention measures, and providing robust support for survivors.
