Malaysia’s largest cancer celebratory and remembrance evening is back on July 28 this year!
Relay for Life, a global event that unites communities to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and raise awareness as well as funds for cancer, is organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
Each year, thousands of people in KL, including hundreds of survivors, take turns walking around a running track to show their support for patients. Held from 4pm to 12am at Dataran Petaling Jaya, zumbathons, sports challenges, performances by survivors, and free health screenings are held on the field.
Also included is the Luminaria remembrance ceremony, in which people write or draw their messages on paper lanterns to loved ones lost, or to motivate those alive to keep fighting. Following sharing sessions by patients or caregivers, the lanterns are then lit around the field.
