Dato' Rafidah Aziz was invited and kindly accepted the role of Principal Patron in 1988.

Dato' Rafidah was born in Perak and had all her education in Malaysia including her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Economics.

In 1980 she was appointed Minister of Public Enterprises and in 1987 she was appointed Minister of International Trade and Industry, a position she still holds today. 

Dato' Rafidah has received many awards from overseas in recognition of her excellence.

The National Cancer Society have been fortunate with her patronage as she has been actively involved in assisting the National Cancer Society raise funds for their various operations in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

Dato' Rafidah officially opened the 5th centre of the National Cancer Society, The Resource and Wellness Centre, in March 2003.
