In conjunction with Lung Cancer Awareness Month, National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), in partnership with Pfizer Malaysia, is stepping up efforts to drive smoking cessation by producing a motivational webfilm to launch their ‘Quit Like a Champ!’ Smoking Cessation Campaign, featuring Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Peter Davis.
In line with its vision to ‘live in a world without cancer’, NCSM has been active in educating the risks of lung cancer through smoking. The Society strongly encourage smokers to explore smoking cessation services and programmes and try out techniques which are proven effective – such as counselling, behavioral modification combined with the use of oral therapy and etc. Through the ‘Quit Like a Champ!’ Smoking Cessation Campaign, NCSM and Pfizer will be giving away Quit Smoking Kits to the first 100 motivated quitters. Each Quit Smoking Kit contains 2 weeks of oral therapy (varenicline, a Quit Booklet, a support card with a list of smoking cessation clinics available in Klang Valley, and a stress ball.
In sharing the same goal and concerted effort, NCSM and Pfizer Malaysia created a motivational webfilm to encourage smokers to seek smoking cessation medical treatment. The webfilm brings viewers on a journey of self-realization to fight one’s addiction to nicotine. Just under two minutes long, the storyline sees Peter Davis fighting his toughest opponent – himself, reflecting that with the will and determination, one can be stronger and stay free (from nicotine addiction) with the right medical help through smoking cessation programmes and services. “
